چکیده

Background Cardiac MRI (CMR) is increasingly being used clinically to assess the regional thickness of the compacted and trabeculated layers of the left ventricle (LV) in patients with suspected non-compaction. However, there is no consensus on whether the short or longitudinal axis view is preferred. We sought to assess the compacted and trabeculated layers in a young ventricular dysrhythmia population with age matched controls and to compare the measurements derived from both the short axis and longitudinal views.

Regional thickness of the compacted and trabeculated layers of the left ventricle in young patients presenting with ventricular dysrhythmias, a Cardiac MRI study

Background Cardiac MRI (CMR) is increasingly being used clinically to assess patients with ventricular dysrhythmias. Structural heart disease such as non-compaction is associated with dysrhythmic risk. Recent literature has characterized the regional thickness of the compacted and trabeculated layers of the left ventricle (LV) in normal subjects but not in patients with ventricular dysrhythmias...

Regional thicknesses and thickening of compacted and trabeculated myocardial layers of the normal left ventricle studied by cardiovascular magnetic resonance.

BACKGROUND We used cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) to study normal left ventricular (LV) trabeculation as a basis for differentiation from pathological noncompaction. METHODS AND RESULTS The apparent end-diastolic (ED) and end-systolic (ES) thicknesses and thickening of trabeculated and compacted myocardial layers were measured in 120 volunteers using a consistent selection of basal, ...

Assessment of left ventricular torsion in long axis view in patients with chronic stenosis of coronary arteries

Background: Left ventricular torsion is one of the most important biomechanical parameters of heart that routinely is measured in short axis view.  A review of the literature has indicated that assessment of left ventricular torsion in short axis view has some limitations. In the present study, we evaluated whether torsion angle assessment in long axis view can be used as a diagnostic biomechan...

Sex-related Left Ventricle Rotational and Torsional Mechanics by Block Matching Algorithm

Background: The aim of the present study was to evaluate how left ventricular twist and torsion are associated with sex between sex groups of the same age.Materials and Methods: In this analytical study, twenty one healthy subjects were scanned in left ventricle basal and apical short axis views to run the block matching algorithm; instantaneous changes in the base and apex rotation angel...

Measurement of Left Ventricular Myocardium Wall Instantaneous Motions with Echocardiographic Sequence Images

Background & Aims: One of the important aims of quantitative cardiac image processing is the clarification of myocardial motions in order to derive biomechanical behavior of the heart in the disease condition. In this study we presented a computerized analysis method for detecting the instantaneous myocardial changes by using 2D echocardiography images. Methods: The analysis was performed on th...
